Gartner Emerging Technologies
By Karen
At the Gartner Emerging Trends and Technologies Roadshow Gartner has released its predictions for the emerging technologies through to 2012.
Obviously I am most interested in the Social Networks and Social software side of things, I don’t think anybody can deny its a rising star. Most definitely changing the way we do business internally as well as the way we interact with our customers and partners.
Gartner’s top 10 disruptive technologies 2008-2012:
- Multicore and hybrid processors
- Virtualisation and fabric computing
- Social networks and social software
- Cloud computing and cloud/Web platforms
- Web mashups
- User Interface
- Ubiquitous computing
- Contextual computing
- Augmented reality
- Semantics
My other top picks in this list that go along with social networking is Cloud Computing and using the web as a platform and then leading on from that mashups and flexible programming.
I think we are a fair way off true semantics and the ultimate user interface that goes with it.
What do you guys think of the list? Are they right?
